What it looks like
Leaves droop and feel dry and brittle rather than soft. Edges crisp up. The soil has pulled away from the pot walls and water runs straight through.
Why it happened
Too long between waterings, or watering with too little water.
What to do
1. Stand the whole pot in a basin of water for 20–30 minutes so the substrate soaks from below. 2. Let the excess drain away. 3. Do not fertilise until the plant recovers. 4. Trim off the dried leaves. 5. Shorten the check interval.
How to prevent it
If you find the soil dry at check time, the app shortens the interval by itself — just answer honestly.
